From June to November the waters known as the Mudhole are teaming with small to medium sized Bluefin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Bonito, Albacore, and a wide range of sharks.
Early in the season, during the months of June and July we target “School” Bluefin and Skipjack Tuna’s by casting flies and jigs to massive schools of topwater feeding fish. For the non fly enthusiasts, trolling a wide spread of topwater lures and baits will undoubtedly put a smile on your face once four to six rods go off at once!
During the summer and early fall months when the warm core eddies spin into our area, Dolphin and Bonito become the main targets. Imagine a “lit up” three to four foot blue and green mahi mahi tracking your fly or lure in the crystal clear blue waters. This is aerial fishing at its best while visual takes just below the waters surface turn into heart pounding leaps of truly breathtaking proportions.
During the fall months of September, October and November join us for the superb bluefin tuna migration in the famed Mudhole, just fifteen miles outside of Manasquan Inlet. This is prime time to tackle thirty to sixty pound bluefin tuna on fly or light tackle as chumming live baits behind the boat can easily produce 20 to 30 fish days all while watching these magnificent creatures crash two feet behind the anchored boat. |
